We are living in a surveillance state. Should I write a song about this?
Acute Shortages
Here are 2 lines from my song Why Weren’t We Warned:
“What if October brings cold and wind?
What if the shortages finally begin?”
Me: Looks at calendar: October, check.
Me: Looks for shortages: check.
First Chair
This song has special meaning to me. It was the first song idea that I took time to actually write. Throughout the years I would always get song ideas that popped into my head, but they were just passing thoughts. With First Chair, I started to write my ideas on paper. Day after day I would add, edit, and refine the lyrics. I did that for 4 months before I felt the lyrics were finished.
Then a friend helped with the music. It was my first song and was the start of my music journey.
Seeds In The Ashes
Another Day, Another Attack.
There IS a Crisis.
While those people who hold office in the U.S. continue to downplay the rapidly worsening energy crisis and gaslight the American public with statements denying its existence and claiming everything will be better very soon, in other parts of the world there are officials who aren’t afraid to tell the truth:
More Attacks in Hormuz
The world is still going full speed ahead into a developing energy crisis.
The attacks continue in the Strait of Hormuz (and elsewhere):

Not What It Seems
President Trump announced a “deal” to be able to buy 300,000 tons of diesel fuel from Russia. Literally, that amounts to about 14 hours worth of consumption in the U.S.
While it sounds great superficially, and the President gets to look like he is doing all that he can to help the average American, an additional supply equal to 14 hours worth of U.S. consumption isn’t going to lower the price of diesel in the slightest.
Additionally, Zelensky has said that the U.S will not be able to import any diesel fuel from Russia:
This feud between Trump and Zelensky is not what it appears to be.
Meanwhile, the energy crisis continues to worsen.
First Chair Today
“First Chair” was the first song that I ever wrote. It was written from the perspective that a global energy crisis has led to widespread “energy lockdowns” very similar in nature to the Covid lockdowns during 2020.
I vividly remember the ski resorts all shutting down operations and closing for the season on March 15th of that year. It was a globally coordinated undertaking. That’s the day that the name Forlorn Skier originated from.
If you’re a skier, I tried to capture how you and I will feel if an energy crisis results in the closure of ski resorts during the time of year when they should be open.
First Chair was released on Spotify today. Have a listen.
